The unlikely set of events consist of oral sex, a birth defect and a knife fight, all within a tight time frame and at a specific time in life!

All these things came together in 1988, to a 15 year old girl, living in the small southern African nation of Lesotho. The young girl was caught in the act of orally pleasuring her new boyfriend by her former lover and a knife fight ensued. She was stabbed twice in the stomach and later admitted to hospital. Whilst in their care, her abdominal cavity was washed out with saline solution and her wounds stitched up.

278 days (9 months) later she went to local doctors with all the signs of a woman in labour, yet upon examination, puzzlement ensued. The girl had no vagina! She had a birth defect (Mullerian agenesis or Mayer-Rokitansky-Küster-Hauser syndrome) and whilst it alone was not surprising, her pregnancy was, to both herself and doctors.

She gave birth via caesarian section to a healthy baby boy.

The only explanation is that the injuries she sustained, somehow exposed her reproductive organs to the recently ingested sperm. It’s testament to a most unlikely set of circumstances and the resiliency and perseverance of natures amazing little swimmers!
