Babies Born in May Are Not the Heaviest, but Are the Luckiest!
May Babies weigh more… This ‘fact’ that has done the rounds, once again appears to be nothing more than an old wives tale. In a recent study of over 250,000 individuals in the UK, that looked at birth weights and their variances throughout the seasons. Their research clearly shows a peak in September, contradicting that the month of May produces heavier babies.
The study carried on to look at other aspects of what is known as “season-of-birth effect” and extends to include over 450,000 people, looking at height, onset of puberty and educational attainment.
The good news for you May babies, is that you are likely to be amongst the tallest, being beaten by only June and July. We cover this in more detail here.
Another study highlighted in this guardian article, involved nearly 30,000 people and asked them how lucky they perceived themselves to be. They found that those born in the warmer months to have a far more positive outlook on life and higher belief in being lucky. In the UK, the optimum month to be born lucky, was May.
