2016’s Top 3 Heaviest Babies!
In first spot we saw the heaviest baby girl ever recorded. She was born to a 19-year-old woman named Nandini in India, on the 23rd May and weighed a whopping 15 lbs or 6.8 kg. She knocked the previous record holder off the top spot, who weighed in at 14lb 5oz. As noted in this article – Dr Venkatesh Raju, the local health officer, said: “In my 25 years of experience, I had never seen such a big baby… She is a miracle. I believe she is not only the heaviest baby born in India but the heaviest baby girl ever born in the world.”
In second place, weighing in at 14.4 lbs or 6.53 kg is Moses Hilton, born on the 2nd June. In this article Jill White, nursing director of the birthing centre where Moses was born said “This little guy is about double what we expect a normal baby to be”.
In third is place is Quinn, daughter to Brandy MacNeil, who weighed in at a hefty 13.3 lbs or 6.03 kg. What differentiates Brandy’s pregnancy from the previous two is that she had no sign of complications during pregnancy, including no sign of diabetes / gestational diabetes (diabetes whilst pregnant). Diabetes during pregnancy is known for contributing to larger than normal babies. In this article Brady is noted as saying “There’s no rhyme nor reason – I wasn’t diabetic and I had a perfectly healthy pregnancy.”
